Meraki originates from ancient Sanskrit and was later adopted by the Greeks, meaning to do something with deep passion, creativity, and soul, leaving a piece of yourself in everything you create.
Our holistic hair salon sits on Glanmor Road in Uplands, Swansea, welcoming clients locally as well as visitors who travel to us from across the world.
We offer more than just a conscious approach to hair; we provide a portal to restoration. Step into our unique “Surrender Sanctuary”, an unhurried experience featuring our tree-lined amethyst crystal backwash and, at special times, the soothing, resonant vibrations of crystal sound bowls.

Meet Kathryn
With over 30 years in the hair industry training alongside world-class masters, my passion has always been rooted in craftsmanship and creativity. But alongside my work behind the chair, I spent decades diving deep into holistic wellbeing, training in Reiki, Energy Medicine, Indian Head Massage, Meditation, and more recently, Rapid Transformational Therapy and Pain Reprocessing Therapy.
In 2018, I launched the very first holistic hair salon in Britain, right here in Wales, well ahead of its time. Having experienced hair loss myself, I deeply understand the connection between physical wellbeing, mental health, and stress. I wanted to build a true surrender sanctuary: a place to reset and calm the nervous system, offering an experience where clients leave feeling transformed from the inside out.
Every corner of Meraki reflects this vision. I personally designed and built the space using upcycled materials, from our amethyst tree-lined backwashes to the gentle sound therapy instruments played during treatments. In 2023, we expanded into the building next door, creating a hidden space tucked behind a secret bookcase. Today, this room hosts group meditation, private therapy sessions, and guest practitioners offering breathwork and reflexology.
This sanctuary model has proven to be a breath of fresh air not only for clients, but for other stylists too. I have officially franchised the Meraki business model to another salon owner who chose to leave behind the hustle and bustle of traditional salon culture to share our space and holistic practices. Her clients have been completely blown away by how different they feel in this new, peaceful environment and by the unique holistic services she now provides.
My passion lies in problem-solving fine hair and hair loss, which led me to formulate our home-grown, 100% organic botanical scalp solutions. That dedication to natural care lives on in the next generation, my daughter developed and launched Ojas, a multi-use 100% organic botanical herbal oil. Handcrafted with crystals and set with healing intentions, Ojas isn’t just for scalp health and hair loss; it is a versatile ritual oil designed to nourish all hair types, defining curls, smoothing straight styles, and taming frizz.
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Our colors and products rely on bio-organic, vegan ingredients sourced from regenerative soil. We recycle our foils and donate hair clippings to be crafted into oil-spill booms or composted.
Meraki was never meant to be just a hair appointment. It was created to be your sanctuary.
